Re-designed Website Equips ONR with Greater Transparency,
Enhanced Communications
ARLINGTON, Va., Nov. 20, 2009 — Jorge Scientific Corporation, a leading provider of mission critical services to the Armed Forces and the Federal Government, provided technical leadership and program management support for the redesign of the Office of Naval Research (ONR) corporate website. Launched Nov. 20, 2009, the new website provides greater transparency into ONR’s work to support the warfighter and enhances ONR’s two-way communication engagement with its myriad stakeholders.
According to Tammy J. White, the Jorge program manager who oversaw the project, the dominance of the Internet as both a powerful communication tool and a viable platform for collaboration across classrooms and continents served as the catalyst for the web redesign. In particular, development of a new site was deemed critical to ONR’s successful utilization of this fundamental tool of academic research and business growth.
“The revamped web site is the first step in ONR’s multi–pronged approach to improve its web experience for the science and technology community, the public, small business, academia, industry and other constituents,” noted White, whose expert leadership over the redesign of the web site and formation of a multidisciplinary government-industry team were lauded by the customer.
According to members of the leadership team within ONR’s Corporate Strategic Communications office, White was considered to be “a professional resource of online and multimedia communications with all the bases covered, including creativity, budgeting, role-management, content facilitation and leadership recommendations for continual improvement. [She has the] credibility, respect and trust to simply “get things done.”
Noting that the launch of the new website was “one of the quietest, biggest achievements for ONR in 2009,” ONR praised the much anticipated new web site, citing its more intuitive navigation, readily visible partnering opportunities and robust search capability for users. Additionally, the site also equips ONR’s subject matter experts with content management capabilities and establishes a consistent design and universal publishing guideline for the entire web site.
In an era defined by e-content and social media, ONR’s new web site redefines how the Naval Research Enterprise meets the emerging needs of the fleet and forces.
